Massage therapy is used to help manage a health condition or enhance wellness. Massage therapy has been studied for several types of pain, including low-back pain, neck and shoulder pain, pain from osteoarthritis of the knee, and headaches. What is the main purpose of massage therapy?
One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced.


Craniosacral therapy (CST)

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of the fluids in and around the central nervous system. Sherah Schump is a licensed massage therapist in the state of Missouri. She has experience in a few styles of massage such as relaxation, deep tissue, acupressure, kinesiology and acupressure taping, trigger point, and Swedish. She has also been trained in medicupping, which is a form of cupping, as well as doing regular cupping and Magnet cupping. She has an associate’s degree in Complementary Alternative Medicine, focusing on herbal medicine and aromatherapy. Sherah has been working with Dr. Kris Kirby on some specialty training in clinical application with palpation and corrective exercises. She has also attended a class with Dr. Kathy Dooly and Dr. Anna Folckomer for clinical application with palpation and corrective exercises in their “Immaculate Dissection” curriculum. She has taken continuing education with the NAHA (National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy) and with AMTA ( American Massage Therapy Association) such as Breast Cancer and Massage Therapy, taken classes focusing on Cannabis uses and applications and is continually taking webinars in her scope of practice and above to be able to help her clients or guide them in a direction to help.
